Rio Marina Mining Park

Iron mining was an essential element of Etruscan economy for many years, and the decisive mineral wealth of Elba. You can visit the Mining Park at Rio Marina, with its collection of minerals and the reconstruction of a mine.  Visitors can explore the mines with an expert guide on foot or on aboard the park's “little red train”, exploring the area's main mines, some of which were also used in Etruscan times. 

The Mining Park, established in 1991 with the aim of reconverting the areas deteriorated by iron extraction and of promoting the local communities’ socio-economic development, is home to a priceless geological, mineral and historical heritage.
