The list of presidents

The list of presidents

The list of presidents

At the exit to the room, along the foyer wall opposite the historical staircase, we can see the list of Presidents of the Chamber of Commerce, starting from its establishment up to 2002: the first president of the Livorno Chamber of Commerce of that time was Pietro Senn, a French entrepreneur of Swiss origin. A quick presidency, however, as from its foundation to 1839, the presidents changed every 2 months.  In the foyer, it is also possible to read the plaque placed there in 2006 for the 400th anniversary of the birth of Livorno, on which it is remembered that the city played host to the first American consulate in the Italian peninsula in 1794: President George Washington chose Filippo Filicchi, a Livorno entrepreneur of Umbrian origin, with links to the United States through his intense commercial trade, as the first consul. Consul Filicchi was also one of the first twelve members of the Chamber of Commerce appointed by decree on 17 December 1801.
