Another historical room worthy of attention is the room where the chamber council met until a few years ago: directly connected to the Council Room, its walls host important portraits of renowned personalities in the city. Two of the most significant paintings in this room are the portraits of two Presidents of the Livorno Chamber of Commerce: Oscare Dalgas and Francesco Ardisson, both painted by Angiolo Tommasi. We can also see the portrait of Ernesto Rossi, one of the most famous dramatic actors of the nineteenth century, painted by Arturo Faldi (1878), and that of Carlo Bini, a Livornian merchant and scholar who became a symbol of the city's Risorgimento pride. In addition the room’s solid walnut cupboards contains the resolutions by the chamber body starting from 1799, the year when the Trade Delegation was formed, from which the Livorno Chamber of Commerce originated in 1801, the reading of which provides you with a full immersion into the atmosphere of the time and the city's history.
