IL GRANDE RETTILE
Il Grande rettile by Pino Pascali (1966, curved canvas, 195x73x445 cm) was obtained at the VIII Premio Modigliani in 1967, when Pascali was only just at the start of his career. The work, exhibited in the Contemporary Art section of the city museum, belongs to the cycle of “faux sculptures” that Pascali created by stretching the canvas on arched wooden structures, using the model aircraft building techniques that he learnt as a child.
