We discover an important moment in Modigliani’s training thanks to his drawing and painting through one of his “landscape”, which is on display at the Fattori Museum: This small landscape is traditionally attributed by critics to the Livorno painter Amedeo Modigliani, dated 1989, when he was 14 years old and had just entered the school of the painter, Gugliemo Micheli, who had inherited Giovanni Fattori’s tradition after being his pupil.
Micheli’s teaching included a lot of drawing practice, painting outdoors, carefully analysing volumes and spaces and the harmony of ratios with each other, observing light and the correct use of tones, which can all be seen in this work.
