What is Urban Trekking?    

It is a new way to enjoy tourism by walking around cities on foot, to the rhythm of the men who built them. A type of tourism that is less structured, free and full of surprises, where glimpses and views are the value. Urban Trekking allows you to really enter the true city, get to know the colours, smells and taste of the old town centre's streets, as well as seeing the most famous landmarks, and to discover that glimpsing a sunset between the village’s rooftops is even more sensational... 

Who is it for? It is for everyone, families, schoolchildren, groups, people of all ages, it can be enjoyed all year round   

Where can I do it? In the city centres full of history and views, where there is a lot of green space and not much pollution... In Castagneto Carducci! Trek with a local guide who will show you the historical-cultural aspects, but also tell the anecdotes, legends and fun facts... 

ROUTE:    

Meeting place at the coach park, we walk along Viale Pascoli that looks onto woods and ancient castles, we head towards the Castello District, stopping at the Antico Liquorificio Borsi; we visit “Casa Carducci”. We carry on towards Piazzetta della Gogna and the Small Museum of Oil (* spring-summer) until we come to the ancient walls of the Gherardesca Castle where we visit the Propositura di San Lorenzo and the Church of the Santissimo Crocifisso. Following that, we come to the real heart of Castagneto, with its small lanes and squares, the steps and panoramic views... We descend the village streets, where the Poet's bust looks down on us, until we come to Piazzale Belvedere, crossing Via Vittorio Emanuele II with the historical tailor's “Arte e Moda” where the Maremma style overcoats are made and where Mastroianni was a client. We note the inscription dedicated to Pietro Gori. We come across other lanes and visit the Giosue Carducci Archive Museum with its poetry, photos and memorabilia, then walk along Via Marconi until we come to the Antico Liquorificio Borsi, to taste their wares. Greetings and return.
